What a fantastic day we had at the Vbites opening on Saturday July 4th.  We were super busy all day, very nicely surprised by the amazing turnout of people who came to show their support for Heather’s new Brighton & Hove venture.  The weather forecast was mixed but the Sun shone all day and into the evening.  A warm, perfect blue sky backdrop to a wonderful opening day. 

The tunes of the big band were swinging and a lovely atmosphere was generated and felt by all those in attendance.  Juliet Gellatley, director of Viva introduced Heather by way of a glowing reference to Heather’s work protecting animals and wished this project huge success.  The meat and dairy industry is the greatest single contributory factor to global warming (18.5%) and other major environmental problems.  The less we all eat meat and dairy the less this industry will impact on our environment.  This is at the heart of the Vbites philosophy and the response from so many of the carnivores in attendance suggests that Vbites can indeed help many to begin cutting down on their meat consumption without giving up on great tasting food.

The 4750 customers who ate on the weekend are testament to the success of the whole venture.  Some of the most popular dishes were Saag Paneer and rice crackers, Burgers, and Chicken style nut korma.  Yum Yum!

Heather climbed onto the roof microphone in hand to welcome everybody to the venue and to thank so many of the staff that has helped her dream to become a reality.  There’s not many places you can go to where you can be sure of having a healthy, ethical and cruelty free dining experience that is such great value for money and in such superb contemporary surroundings. 


Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim came along to show his support and join in the fun together with a smattering of other well-known local faces.  The venue looked splendid in the sunshine and as darkness fell the mood was set for a wonderful evening of dining and drinks.  It was lovely to see so many of the same faces back on Sunday, for a roasty and a glass of wine on the lawns in the sunshine.  A coffee and the temptation of one of the great tasting cakes making it’s way round the travelator inside was also too much for many to resist.

Vbites is a venue for the whole community to enjoy and we look forward to seeing you for many more fun filled days and nights this summer.  Eating well has never felt so good!
